: Before you start the design think about whether or not you will be
: crossing over freshly hennaed parts with your cone/bottle or your
: hand. If you always work in one direction you will not smudge your
: design.

This is SO important!!! I learned it the hard way. :-}

When I do the hand (my own), I start in the center and work outward.I
hold my hand in front of me, turned slightly in. When I do the
fingers (which I generally save until last) I turn the hand so the
fingers are pointing at the hand with the henna cone. (and I start
with the little finger and work toward me... this is for the top of
the hand). For the wrist, I stabilize the hand on my knee.I try to do
the wrist before I do the fingers, becuase the wrist doesn't take the
henna as well and needs the extra time.
