This is my third time to henna:

On all parts of my hands I kept the henna on for about 12 hours. I
noticed that the upper surface of my hand (not the upper surface of
my fingers) would dye a couple shades lighter then the fingers and
sides of my hand. So, I re-hennaed the top part of my design
starting at the point where I noticed a distinctive shade change and
kept this on for 6 hours -- that pretty much did the trick -- I found
myself touching up different spots several times when I realized it
was so easy.

Henna seems to be very unforgiving in some ways and surprisingly
forgiving in others. It's unforgiving in that it does not take long
to make a mistake. It's forgiving in that what look like less than
smooth lines, and lines with henna flaking off still look thin, solid
and whole. This stuff is pretty neat!
