From the Sirius Bride that we full-body hennaed....it was interesting that apart from palms and soles, the henna color was very nearly even throught her entire body. However, the fading did not take place evenly at all. Upper chest and tummy faded out first, legs and arms faded later.....it seemed to exfoloiate from the heart out to the extremities, extremities exfoliating last. Claudia wanted some of her favorite patterns re-done, as she'd become very fond of them, expecially the fern Alex did at her ankle. The technique of henna, spray New Skin, then apply liquid latex was extremely effective. THe only difficulties were in areas that flexed (around joints) where the latex lifted up as she walked. Indoors would certainly be more comfortable than outdoors.... and the lady to be hennaed really needs the whole day off work! On a second bride that I did full fody henna on....this was an Afro-American lady, so contrast of skin color versus henna color was more crucial. Simpler, more heavy patterns did well. On her hands and legs, the henna was rich redwood color against a sort of baked-potato jacket brown. THe henna on her palms and soles went very nearly black. I also talked with a Saudi girl about the traditional full body henna available in the henna parlors there....she said the henna artists did a sort of lattice-work pattern all over the body and filled it in with fillagree. She said such was also available in Cairo. I think the lattice sort of design would be an excellent idea....that gives artists a grid-plan to work into, and would make things gosmoothly and evenly. I would adise working out completely the full body design before starting, then finding 4 henna artists of approximately equal ability to share the job.... that way you can get the henna done on the front half of the lady in a 2-4 hour shift.....then next day do the back half of her. Unless you're doing something very simple, I think a full body is more than one artist can handle comfortably ....because both you and your client need a break every hour or so, and more than 4 hours is a long time to henna constantly, or be still, getting hennaed.
