I've had mixed results using a spray bottle for lemon-sugar. If the
mix is too syrupy and thick, it will clog your spray bottle. If your
sprayer is too big, then your hand, your table, and your neighbors
will be coated wtih lemon-sugar... I have an old PAM bottle (spray
cooking oil) that I now use for lemon sugar -- it's got a fine enough
spray to be useful...I still use it over hte sink. The really big
spray bottles don't clog as easily, but the drops that come out can
hardly be called "mist" and they might wash away fine lines...

I like the spray bottle for large designs. For smaller ones, I still
use the dip method. Actually, I've just started experimenting with a
trick that Kree Arvanitas uses -- cooking the lemon-sugar over a
potpourri burner (one of the ones with a tea light underneath). It
makes the lemon-sugar nice and warm when going on, and extra syrupy.
I put the leftovers in a bottle and used it last night -- one goopy
coat dried to a sticky-candy finish and the tp really stuck to it!
