I've had mixed results with bald heads - I've done several and had a couple of dismal failures, a couple of pretty decent successes. It's hard to predict, but the failures were on guys with pretty oily skin. One head I did took 48 hours to darken. We had given up on any results and lo and behold on the second day she woke up and there it was!
Heads are great fun, however. I think keeping a stocking cap on all night probably helps.
