I just added a posting under "ordering henna" below, which said (sorry to be redundant, but it was under the wrong heading to begin with) that lately my designs have been the same orange color as always when I remove the paste, but they have been darkening much more than usual over the following 24 hours. I wrote that I couldn't figure out what I was doing differently, but now that I think about it, there is something.

My Mom (who loves to be hennaed) has always said that my New Skin/paper tape wrap is so effective that she thought it'd last right through a shower. Last time I did her feet she tried this, and it did. Normally I take the wrap & paste off before my shower (after wrapping overnight), oil the design & then shower (avoiding soap there). But lately I've been following her example & showering with the wrap still on. The new skin lamination really water-proofs it. Then I take the wrap off, so the design really isn't touched by water for another 24 hours. More tanins left on the skin as a result may be the difference.

I know many of you have to use cotton under your wraps due to sweaty climates & I'm not sure if it would work to shower in that kind of wrap. But if there is a good coat of New Skin (instead of lemon/sugar, which would disolve), I don't see why not. If anyone is game to try it, let me know if it makes a difference.

I am just thrilled to be getting such great color (it has been a long battle). Thanks, Mom!
