I use to be a teacher and when I left I had accumulated boxes of
thermofax sheets. We use to use them when we made worksheets. Anyway
I saved them (who knows why- until now) and find them useful for
transferring designs. At first I became frustrated with them because
I would transfer them with - water, alohol, witchhazel- and the list
goes on and on and they would bleed purple stuff all over the
place. If you get just the right amount of liquid you might get a
clean design on skin. Then I discovered speedstick deodarant (that
is what they use to place temp tattoos onto people's skins where I
was working). It works beautifully. You just place a very, very thin
layer on the body area where you apply the design and that is it.
Well of course I started to think- won't deodorant keep the area from
sweating? I blot the area a couple times before applying the henna to
lift off excess purple stuff and speedstick, but still I was
concerned that it would make a difference in the outcome of the
stain. I tested two areas- one with speedstick not wiped away at all
and one area with nothing. The results were pretty much the same.
Speedstick side a little bit lighter. When you blot the area to take
off the excess purple stuff and speedstick there was no difference
between the stains at all (tested that way also.)If you would like to
try the sheets let me know and I can send you a couple to try out. I
think that school supply stores, office stores might still carry them.
Of course they say the best way to henna is freehand, there are times
I find transfers to be helpful, especially for those of us who have
difficulty with symmetry.
Good Luck,
Sonia
