: : Somewhere through the grape vine I have caught wind of a henna : recipe : : using Glycerine, Chestnut Bark, Greenheaut (sp?) and a Soliculant : I think the glycerine is just for stickyness in the henna, you can : get that at the grocery store. Glycerin is a by-product of the soap-making process. It can thicken and slow evaporation (I think that's why it's good to put in soap-bubble mixes - makes the bubbles last longer). It *might* help dissolve one of the other ingredients, but that's not a high probability. Grocery stores have funny arrangements, so if you don't see it, ask them to check their computer. If you're really desperate, cake-making supply stores have it, but it's expensive that way. I don't know about the middle two, but could the last one be salicylic acid? It can be in the form of white crystals or powdered, works as a preservative, and is sometimes used to treat skin conditions. You know it better as aspirin. Best of luck, and do share!
