Check your local healthfoods store. I know that Frontier and SOlgar
brands have black walnut hulls. I've only ever found it in the herbal
supplements section of health foods stores (in gelatin capsules) --
although I have NO IDEA what kind of health benefit it could possible
have.

There have been concerns raised about allergy potential since eating
black walnuts is one of the more common allergies...however, just
because something causes a reaction internally doesn't mean it will
cause a reaction externally. Just use caution, patch test, and be
sure to alert potential clients of the ingredients. I've found it
improves the brown color slightly and no-one has opted not to try the
paste with the black walnut hulls, cloves and cutch (all potential
allergens) -- I do make a tea out of them and then use that to make my
paste --so it's actually not a lot of the irritating stuff making
contact with the skin.
