Well, let's think this through. The stilsuits would cover any
designs, except at home. On the other hand, imagine what that
heat would do to the henna! Acid surely is not a problem -
ammonia would be readily available. (Let's skip those details.)

Their eyes turned blue, right? Might this be like looking through a
blue filter? The henna designs would be...no, wait, it can't be...yes
-- red through a blue filter looks black. BLACK HENNA - the apparent
desire of many, and it's right before our eyes, in a sf society!
Catherine, you've solved the Ultimate Problem! All people have to do
is go to Arrakis, or ingest enough "spice", and even red or
orange henna will *look* black!
