: is henna strickly for decoation or is there meaning to it? : for example does it bring you good luck or fortune? If it does id : like to know what designs are best for that? --------------------------------- As Catherine notes, henna definitely does have a special meaning to it. It promotes fertility and also symbolizes the woman's personal prosperity and her happiness in the life of her husband. And even more than being a sign of prosperity, the act of not doing mehndi(for a wedding or an important religious event) is blamed if a woman undergoes misfortune. This idea aside, mehndi is a beautiful art that appreciates human beauty. As for good luck and good fortune: If a bride and groom's mehndi both have good color, it is a sign that they will have a strong relationship with each other. Plus, in our case, when we have mehndi on, everyone stares and comments on how beautiful our design are. ~Rupal
