I love to use port. It is a very sugary alcohol and dries sticky (you
know the texture if you've ever put your arm down on a well-used bar).
Plus it smells really warm and rich when combined with other paste
ingredients such as clove & coffee. I do also put a little sugar in
the coffee (when I use coffee at all). And I do also add clove and/or
eucalyptus oil. The combo of oils and port helped me a lot with
cracking.
