When I do my palms, I will wait until the paste is dry, then coat
some New Skin on. When that is dry I will papertape my hand (spread
open - uncreased), then I henna my other hand. I do the same thing.
Then I put my hands in a latex gloves with socks over that.
The only time I have problems with smearing is if I put the new skin
on before the paste is dry or put the tape on before the NS is dry.
