: what would happen if someone with hennaed nails were to have
surgery.
: Would it be a serious problem?

When I had to have a blood test (the kind where they prick your
finger) about a month ago, the nurse called in a doctor to look at my
hand (which was hennaed). He decided it would be best to poke an area
that wasn't hennaed. He thought it might skew the results. He also
said my nails (which had henna crescents on them) looked like the
nails of a person who has a liver disease.

I bet if the patient were not upfront about it before surgery, it
could cause some confusion in recovery. They could be trying to treat
you for a non-existent problem.
