: : I am uneasy about freehanding and would like to know if anyone knows
: : of a way to transfer a design (already drawn out) onto the skin then
: : just trace over it with the henna....

: : I've tried the contact paper and exacto knife trick but it did not
: : work too well with fine intricate patterns.

: : Can it somehow be done like tattoos (I know they draw first then
: : somehow transfer it onto the skin then tat over it) or would the ink
: : from whatever they use interfere with the henna penetration?

: : Any suggestions????

: : I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!!

tattoo artists use a special gelatin carbon paper to transfer the design. they draw the design, cut it out and transfer it onto the skin with the help of deoderant! once that dries, you can trace over it, but yes the ink it leaves will prevent the henna dye from absorbing as well as it normally would but i've done it many times and have resulting good color regardless. contact a local tat artist and they will explain in more detail. hope this helps.
I've also tried makiing my own stencils by cutting up an old shower curtain, the vinyl lays well on your skin if you tape it down good and have no wrinkles
