I think that you could use a powdery eyeshadow pencil in a dark shade
to draw on the hand directly. I don't know if it would work or not,
but it's worth a try:
-draw your design on a pretty flexible paper (so it would drape over
the body part you're going to henna)

-scribble over the back of the design with the powdery pencil (fill
in the area of design completely and heavily)

-put the paper on the body part with the eyeshadow scribble side
against the skin.

-use the handle end of a thin paintbrush (or some other non-sharp but
still thin pointed stylus) to trace over the design.

-when you pick up the paper, there should be at least a faint marking
of the eyeshadow in your design.

Hope that it works for you. I've done it for other art purposes.
