One of the FAQs on lawsonia that I ran into sez that much henna in an
animals diet interferes with the absorption of their nutrients (a
tannin thing)....so while its not poisonous, its not good for them
either. Most of the animals I've seen hennaed are ones that can be
tethered to a post so they won't lick the henna off. The elephants
that I've seen seem to be painted with lac or paints rather than
hennaed....
