superfine lines - how?

How do you get superfine lines? Do you squeeze them out with a
truly tiny tip, or drape & pull between two fingers (one of the books
describes this) or pull from a blob with the tip of your applicator or
what? If you're pulling them somehow, then how do you get them to go
where you want them?

Again, if you're pulling them, are you using okra or fenugreek in your
mix? Or something else for the right texture? (Can't think of the
word - it's not viscosity, but the tendency to make strands...)
