I have found that, no matter what your race,
mehndi will tend towards different colors
on different people -- I'm sure it has
something to do with metabolism, skin PH,
etc... when I apply mehndi to myself, for
example, the design always tends more
towards the orange and fades to a very
orangey shade -- while on most of my
clients the exact same batch will turn their
skin a lovely dark mahogany brown, fading
in the same shade.

Last week I did mehndi at an "african
market" fair -- did dozens of african-
americans, with skin tones ranging from
very light to very dark. I called and checked
the results a few days later, and everyone
reported that they were very happy... and,
interestingly, the darkest Mehndis were not
necessarily found on the lightest skins...
quite a few people left the paste on 24 hours
and got a beautiful dark brown design, even
on less than optimal areas (many wanted
faux tattoos on their upper arms).

I don't know if this helps; I think the key is
to avoid any water on the area for 24 hours,
even if the paste has been picked off. And it
is important to make all customers aware
that this is natural product that interacts
with your skin; therefore, everyone will
have different results, whether white or
black. I haven't had any complaints.
