I haven't tried this method, but wanted to tell you about cosmetic grade paraffin. It melts easily and at temperatures that will feel pretty warm, but not burn skin. You can get it at any beauty supply place. It's used for hand/foot softening treatments. It removes very easily, but is often painted on the body, so I think you could use a paint brush to apply designs. It also layers nicely. I think the trick would be keeping it on the skin when you applied the henna. You'd have to be very careful that the person getting the design didn't move at all or I think it would dislodge. After the henna was on, you'd also want to wrap pretty tightly. Other than this grade of paraffin, I wouldn't recommend using any other kind of wax or paraffin. They have higher melting points and could essentially be burning the skin and sealing in the burn/heat. Not a good situation! Hope that helps :-)
