It occurs to me that if menstruation didn't happen all that frequently
(due to pregnancy and lactation), then it would be all the more
frightening...and in need of rituals. Menstruation was considered
contagious...and in fact, it is! Pheromones that make women cycle
together. But what could be worse in the ancient ME context than if
all your womenfolk were in the menstrual hut!
