Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. .. Frida Kahlo's
self-portraits, to me, have shown her to be very physically endearing,
unibrow and 'stache in particular. But most people I know find
visible hair like that to be disgusting.

Unfortunately, in the U.S. allowing ourselves to be natural and
~hairy~ would be frowned upon by most the Average Joe, and bring
attention of the negative sort to one's mouth and eyes. Actually, I
call that way of thinking ignorant. . . ignorant that just because a
woman has a little extra hair, she is no less of a woman than someone
who is baby-smooth.

Being "elephant-hipped" is also considered negative, although Jennifer
Lopez is renowned for her lower half. . . but then there's Calista and
Jennifer Aniston, going in the other direction. Seems much different
from attraction being based on ability to bear children, eh?

Ok, this is really off-topic now, but I just wanted to share some
thoughts. It's good to know that in Henna Forum, we celebrate the
beauty of life, and of individuality!

: Hmmmmmmm.... courtesans were more likely to have elaborate facial
: harquus patterns than wives in the Medieval Arabic and Persian world
.
: Their livelihood relied on men paying attention to them... There
: was a fashion, 1700's, in Persia where women penciled in not only
: their eyebrows all across the middle (common in ME traditional
: beauty) and pencilled in a moustashe too if it wasn't growing in
: luxuriently enough. Veiled women bring the veil up over the mouth
: first when unfamiliar men appear.

: All of these groups cultivated really plump thighs and bottoms, too.

: Thinness was hopelessly unattractive. I found two of the dearest
nude
: pictures of young Turkish beauties.... a medium to petite above the
: waist, xxl below the waist, with long hair, henna and a single
: eyebrow.

: It's very important for a henna artist to try to maintain these
: important traditions! Expand those thighs! Grow in those eyebrows!
