I second the idea that it really helps to keep on the henna for
awhile and for you to be hot. Also, you can attain this dark color
by reapplying the design over and over again instead of just leaving
it on to dry.

: Yes. Recipe is nothing unusual....it just requires VERY GOOD fresh
: henna, an overnight wrap, NS and a hot sweat under the wrap. I
have
: reddish black coming up now on my hands with henna from
: www.castleart.com . I mixed it with only lemon juice, and set the
: paste covered with clingwrap by the warmest place in the house
(80F+)
: for 12 hours. I applied the henna, NS'ed it, and wrapped. Left
it
: on for 7 hours, sleeping, with 4 blankets, and the thermostat way
up
: (sweatty, sweatty under the wrap). It's 20 hours later, and the
: design is deep burgundy, heading for black. I have many photos of
: reddish blackhenna. Email me if you want'em. It's not unusual at
all
: to get that color if your henna is fresh enough and you're hot
enough.
