Camphor in lemon-sugar

So my henna has finally developed. I did a side by side with
a solution of 1/2 diluted camphor essential oil 1/2 lemon-sugar, and
plain old lemon-sugar.
The camphor/lemon-sugar mix did not get that much darker than the
plain lemon-sugar. However, I had to re-apply some henna on the
camphor/lemon-sugar area, and it came out a bit darker.
I'm going to try this again with fresher henna. I think this current
batch may be on its last legs.
