Try looking for hair henna in your local healthfoods store. Henna
doesn't really *change* your color -- it coats the hair with a
translucent red shade. Of course, you can build up the shade with
repeated applications. I've used Light Mountain and Rainbow Henna
brands and liked both; and they both come with good instructions and
plastic gloves.
