It is safe to use traditional henna (home-made paste so you know what's in it, simplest possible recipe) on a pregnant belly, but is not outstandingly effective. A belly in the 7th-9th month stretch (pun included) has glassy new skin and the henna take is not very impressive. Heating pads and other things frequently used to darken henna just aren't advisable because of the baby within. Because your body's thermostat is on "high" during your pregnancy, you can get incredible takes on your hands and feet with henna! (I recommend making paste from the plain bulk henna powder from the link below for great color and safety) There are henna traditions associated with pregnancy from India and Morocco..... but it's a long post....so email me if you want the "preggers" rant, patterns included.
