I wrestle with this question, too. So far, I have met guys in coffeehouses (for hand designs). One of our local dance studios is open from 12-9 most days and has an extra room -- she doesn't mind me hennaing people there -- good advertising for her (plus a fee), and I feel better being in neutral territory with other people near a telephone... Yesterday afternoon I met a guy in coffeeshop and since he seemed like a nice guy and was with his girlfriend, I invited them over so i could do his feet (which wouldn't have been an appropriate job to do at Starbucks). So far I've just dealt with things on case by case basis. I guess my ground rules are I don't do guys alone (except my sweetie, but that's different), and I don't invite them to my house until I've made eye contact and sussed them up. And I once asked my sweetie hang out with me when I met someone just because he sounded strange on the phone -- he turned out to be fine, but I felt better knowing he had met my husband and knew that BIll was nearby during the henna session (esp. since I was doing a snake up his thigh...) And although I;ve never been asked, I probably wouldn't make a housecall for a total stranger without Bill in tow, or at least a meeting on neutral ground (like a coffeeshop) to "discuss the design" so I could check them out for weirdness potential. Not that you can always tell, but it's usually accurate. And no, I don;t offer taxi service, either. (unless someone lived in my neighborhood and I met them at work or somewhere else and were just giving them a ride home.) Of course, no-one's ever asked me for a ride -- they usually make a lot more money than I do and have nicer cars...
