I have 1000 or so henna patterns collected from traditional arts, with their meanings and sources. Email me and let me know what you'd like. They're free, I email them as gifs ... just be very scrupulous about copyright. As you research the history of henna, you may be dissappointed to find that very little of the history and tradition of henna is esoteric. It's household magic at best, and really mostly just women celebrating the joy of living, being beautiful, being sexy, having children and seeing them grow. Several writers have greatly overstated the spiritual signigicance of henna ... for various reasons. I've been researching henna's history for 10 years, and am working on a book on the subject ... the outline is 15 pages and there's a bibliography of 250 books. Looks like the book will max out at about 500 pages. So, when I say henna is mostly just for the delight of being a woman for one more day of life and love ... I have a fair amount of material to back that up. Kiss your daugher for me ... how does she feel about her destiny? If you can make it to Sirius Rising next summer, I'll be doing the henna history and tradition lectures (and a few other things) . You're welcome to come if you think you'd enjoy it. We can always use a yoga or art class! People who teach classes have their camping fee waived for the wee, but you have to submit your proposal fairly soon. That would go the webmaster for Brushwood, at the link below.
