The instructions on most henna kits are pretty poor. The henna powder
in most henna kits is pretty stale.

Let's start from the beginning. Go to my website, linked below and
try working with those instructions. Those directions really work! If
you love henna, and want to try more, hang around the henna forum!
Lots of henna lovers are there, most of whom had exactly the same
experience as you on their first try. Many people come onto this forum
for the first time asking "why did my henna suck?" and very quickly
become enthralled with the history and traditions of henna and become
very adept at getting wonderful dark colors and fine lines.

If your parents can buy you a little more henna, get some plain henna
powder from www.castleart.com . I can email you jpgs of the colors
you'll get from that henna and the instructions at mehandi.com ... the
burgundies, browns and near blacks that you wanted. It's not hard at
all to get really great henna ... you'll need fresher henna, an acidic
mix of henna paste, and an overnight wrap.
