Sounds like clogs. Use a pin to clear the end of the bottle when it gets stuck. (The goosh can be from pushing harder to clear a clog - see if this is the case.) Is the tip plastic or metal? My metal tips need serious cleaning if I let the paste dry, which it does eventually. Soak them, scrub out (I have some tiny brushes such as those used for mascara), and scrape out the inside with a pin, especially if there's a rim on the inside. Soak and repeat. If it's the paste, it is possible to squeeze the paste through a screen. I haven't found the plumbing kind that fits inside a bottle top (someone said they work great), but I have found the eternal coffee filters (they look like the paper ones, but with a plastic rim, and the filter itself is actually woven) and I think they would work to strain the paste. Definitely do a super sifting job on the powder in the future if you're using a fine tip. (Sift once, toss the remains, sift again, and save those remains for coarser work.)
