Found elsewhere in this site is a reference to a book that contains traditional bedouin henna designs. Catherine, I assume you already know about this book. Here is the exerpt from the site: "There is a book called The Arab of the Desert by Col. H.R.P. Dickson which has an enormous amount of cultural and historical information about the Bedouins living in and around Kuwait in the first part of this century. It also includes drawings done by his wife of traditional henna designs used by the Bedouin women. He also says that, while men did not use henna as a rule, it was used by pearl divers who believed that it toughened the hands and feet. The author was raised by a Bedouin nurse, spoke fluent Arabic, and knows whereof he speaks. Great book!"
