Wishful thinking is a lovely thing. Well-intentioned sunnying-up of
memories is normal and kind. Especially between grandmothers and
granddaughters.
So much of that dance and poem is like a betrothal or bridal tradition
.... so those elements seemed absolutely correct ..... and betrothal
tended to coincide very closely with the first menses ..... I can see
how one got to the other.
I just wanted to ask if there was some incredible exception to
everything I'd ever seen, or if someone had done some gentle
historical fiction.
Beats those "now you're a woman" films you see in phys ed class all to
heck!
