The sift-o-matic is great, but I agree with Catherine, it's more
useful for a large quantity of henna.

Before I got my sifter, I used a universal plastic mesh coffee filter
and that works really well, but is slow.

Also, you can make a bag of chiffon (2 layers is best) with drawstring
at the top. Put the henna inside. Put the bag over a jar and use the
drawstring to tighten around the mouth of the jar (or you can use a
rubber band, and use a spoon to work the henna through the bag into
the bottom of the jar.

And there are some folks who swear by Dairy Queen sundae containers.
