I suspect, but can't be sure, that the ostrich egg in the Jereb book on the Arts of Morocco is a henna job ..... if you do it, try setting the color with heat and ammonia. In Sudan, decorated ostrich eggs were kept in the rafters of women's little houses (hosh) as things to promote fertility, and to mirror the fecund woman's womb .... maybe chicken eggs would make us only a little fertile as opposed to ostrich eggs making us a LOT fertile...
