You know, I'd kind of forgotten that I also grew up being exposed to
different cultures and languages. Our neighborhood was fairly
international -- people from Africa, India, CHina -- sort of a
cultural oasis in the middle of a very poor inner city. Then I
majored in Asian studies in college. I've had Turkish roommates (they
were the BEST cooks). My in-laws are Korean, and my mother-in-law is
also a bellydancer. So, yes, my interest in other cultures has a long
history with me and permeates most aspects of my life.

It's interesting to find out what drew folks to henna and how it fits
into the context of their lives.
