Try making an infusion of cloves in your lemon juice. I won't go
into the details of it here, just click on the link below. The
recipe uses whole cloves and because it extracts the quality of the
clove that you want, you don't have to worry about it become
ineffective because of age. I usually make up a big batch of the
juice and freeze it - labelled "henna juice" so no one tries to make
soup out of it.
