Honey does make a beautiful paste...but I could never get a stain with
it in my recipe. I was just using henna and lemon juice with a drop
of clove oil at the time, and I tried adding a dollop of honey for
smoothness. It was perfect to use and went on like a dream, but after
wearing it overnight I woke up without the slightest stain anywhere.
Somehow the honey completely deactivated my henna. I tried it several
more times with zero success. My guess is that the honey I used had a
lot of protein in it and the henna reacted with the honey's protein
instead of my skin protein. No one else has had this problem that I
know of, but if it happens to you, you know why.
