I guess step 1 for clog-free henna is good henna, finely sifted.
That is all it takes for me. I had more clogs with the cone but
maybe it was because I wasn't used to them. With the bottles, the
clogs are mostly due to having left the tip with henna in it after a
previous session...no problems as long as I soak after each session.

As for clove powder in the paste, I think this causes clogs because
it is not as finely ground as the henna. I just make an infusion of
whole cloves in lemon juice and then strain it through a coffee
filter. (Keep it in the fridge forever, but label it so no one drinks
it or cooks with it).
