Though I can't answer all your questions b/c I don't work with stencils (Though I think it might be better to remove the stencil once the mehndhi begins to dry...wait too long and when you try to pull the stencil off, it may flake..)
....I can say that personally I find it is better to use mustard oil once the henna has been scraped off your hands. (that is what I was taught back in India) As uncomfortable as this may be, do not wash your hands close to 14 hours. (YES 14)...the longer you avoid water the deeper the color will set. As I had mentioned in another posting, each person's body chemistry also plays a role in just how deep the color will take. (I have a poor friend who has sweaty palms, therefore on her wedding day, the mendhi literally washed off her hands. She was left with one little squiggly line on her wrist.)

I use eucalyptus oil in the preparation of the henna. As far as "henna oil" is concerned I think that is just a popular name for either mustard or clove oil even eucalyptus oil...
