I knew Syria had a history of elegance, grace fine arts and a
wonderful appreciation of how to live very, very well .... but what
you say makes me ever more curious! (has anybody managed to fix the
transporter beam YET?)

To what extent are urban women in Syria using henna (as body art)
these days (if that's something you can determine easily)? Frequently
for fashion? Just at night of the henna? Or generally festive
occasions like parties, and eids? Done at home or in salons?

I corresponded briefly with a woman in Beirut who wanted to start
doing henna at her beauty salon, and thought that she would be the
first in Lebanon to ever do henna .....

I have an easier time getting information on Syrian henna from 3000
BCE to 1300 CE than I do contemporary use! (Well ..... actually
that's the case with most of the countries that the US has such
piss-poor relationships with .... the peculiarities of governmental
policy is waaaay beyond my understanding).
