I'm not much into gardening and cultivation, but wouldn't using the
roots of a plant make it impossible to reharvest it the next season?
Don't you have to dig it up to use the roots?
That would seem to me a reason to make black henna powder much more
expensive than red or neutral, as you can only get it once, rather
than over and over again.
Whenever I have seen black henna in Indian groceries, it has all been
pretty much the same price as red. Though I cannot read hindi or
arabic, it may not be powder from the roots, it probably just has PPD
added.
