: Yep, I have an apprentice! One of the guys in my class is REALLY
interested, and when he brought his mom in to see a design on my
hand, she said that she would like to hire me to teach him
individually! I'm really excited, I think I'm going to put together a
first-class henna kit for him, including books, utensils, all that.
So I get to pass on everything I know about henna to him, and he
keeps the tradition alive! I am all too happy to do this for him,
since he shows so much insight and creativity. There's just something
so amazing about when somebody completely new to something developes
such an interest for it, and I get to mold and teach that interest! I
must say, he has been very surprising. When he walked in, I first
questioned myself about why he would be interested in an ancient art
form like henna. But looks can be sooooo decieving! He is one of my
brightest students (not to play favorites, they're all extremely
bright) and I look forward to teaching him!

: Any suggestions for taking on students? His mother said she would
pay me, how much should I charge? What methods do I teach him? All I
know has come from TREMENDOUS trial and error, and I dont know if you
can teach that!

: Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thats a very good think, that a boy wants to learn mehndi.

when my granny saw,that a 5year-boy like me(Now I´m 15)is intressted
in henna, she was very proud and happy. In Iran there are (were)a lot
of male-hennarias too!!!!!!!!
You have to show him the tradition, tell him about the TRUE history.
Henna is not only from India ,Pakistan or Marokko.
Henna is (was) used in for example Iran for more then 2000 years!!!!!
India learned the design-basics from Iran-thats not a joke!!!

Then, tell him evrythink about application and mixing mehndi.
He has to learn that Henna is not a Tattoo or something "new".
Tell him about diffrend hennas, about the diffrend skin-types,about
the diffrence between for example the chest and the palm.

Shevia(I think you know who she it-or not?)is still my student.I told
Shevia to know her limits-she has to feel confortable with evry client
(>>>>delic. parts)
And he has to practice!!!!!!
Sometimes I let a student do a Mehndi for me-that helps a lot!!!!!
Believe me!!!!!!
