Hello friends,

I know this post is not entirely about henna but something very closely associated with henna ... A WEDDING !! She is my cousin Zana and she got married about 3 weeks ago. She was wearing a traditional Malay suit (the kind worn by ancient Malay Queens and Princesses)... check out her headpiece (that thing weighs a ton !). I did her henna but apologies that my picture-taking skills is not as good as my drawing skills so the henna is barely noticeable.

A Malay wedding consists of first, the solemnisation, the most important part of the wedding in Islam, followed by a grand feast where the bride and groom sit on a dais dressed in full splendour as King and Queen of the day. Of course days before that, the bride will be treated to nights of henna besides other activites. Interestingly, many Muslim grooms in Singapore and Asia wear henna on their wedding day. Often a normal Malay wedding celebration can last between 3 - 7 days.

I'll be happy to answer any queries about Malay wedding rituals ... in the meantime, enjoy the picture !!

Peace

~Jewel~
