I had seen a news segment on henna a couple of years ago and it piqued
my interest but never did anything about it. I'd even seen the henna
on Venice Beach but never stopped to get a stain done on myself (thank
goodness, now that I know the evils of the "black paste of death"). In
May I finally got a small stain done on my hand from Sumita Batra's
book at a local flea market. Still not knowing the dangers of black, I
was dissapointed on seeing a "black henna artist" after getting my
natural henna stain. After that I was hooked on it and scoured the web
for more info and finally found this great and wonderful site. I don't
often speak up, but I read this page day after day and love all the
discussions going on here. I especially like that I learned about the
black stuff before ever using it on myself. I now feel comfortable
enough to henna other people besides my willing daughter and my
sometimes willing son. I have several tattoos and I will always love
them, but I am even happier now that I know henna.
