Team Kenzi Henna event - a diary

Here is a diary of the Team Kenzi henna event, August 19th, 2000.

At around 12:30, we all met up at The Gates Of Morocco at 8 Prince street, NYC. I met Kenzi and Constance for the first time! We got on well from the begining, without any introduction. We all set up out on the sidewalk (The weather was great!) with our sari-draped table and a few chairs. Our first customers were a couple of Kenzi's regular clients who were going to a Pearl Jam concert. They had some of Catherine's designs done on their shoulders. By now, Ida had showed up and renamed me "Boy Wonder". I was sitting on a pouf on the sidewalk, hennaing away on Constance's feet. We continued to get customers and excited yelps from onlookers ("YOU did that??? WOW!!!"). Berend Baas, a forum participant, showed up with his family. He brought along two girls who were very eager for henna. They both picked Catherine's Celtic knotwork patterns, and Kenzi and I took them on boldly. (we didn't think we could do Celtic patterns! wow!) Berend and his family hung around for a while. Then Rene and Nicole came along. Rene had the word "relax" written on her ankle in Arabic. Nicole had an anklet and a butterfly in her palm. Business slowed down around 6:00, so we packed up and headed out to Jackson Heights, aka "India in " for shopping and dinner. As could be expected, we still hadn't gotten our fill of henna, so back to my uncle's apartment for more henna. We stayed up til about 12:30 hennaing! All our designs came out gorgeous! What fun!
