henna & cats

I have a friend who just hennaed her hair(ok it isn't mehndi) and the cat is going crazy for the henna. He kept trying to get the henna. She dropped a bit on the floor and the cat rolled in it(funny looking cat now). Now that her hair is rinsed the cat is obsessed with being in her hair.
Has anyone else had a reaction like this from a cat? I didn't think it was related to catnip.
