Well, the lemon/sugar fix is not my favorite either, but I have been
using everytime I mehendi, for the last few months. It's sticky and
gooey...but...for me it works, and I get a good stain.

Lately I have been using it and TP. After I have dabbed the fix on
several times (usually allowing it to 'dry' while I am working), I
use 1ply TP and place it, 1 square at a time on the design. I give
the area a final dabbing, and then the first piece of TP is laid
down, I continue to dab the fix right over the TP. It secures it in
place, and is less sticky than leaving the design uncovered. If the
slight stickiness is a bother, tie or tape some TP over it. Using
one square at a time, I have noticed, gives a bit more flexibility to
the person who is looking like the 'walking wounded'. When the TP
dries, it is rigid and when it is time to take the dried paste off
usually one pull of the rigid TP takes most of it off.
I just did this method on 2 bellies Saturday, both pieces being very
large, covering almost the whole stomach area. I got to see one of
the finished stains today, and it stained a nice brown.
I have never had good results with bagging any of my work...but
that's just me. I know others have. One time, I turned completely
dry paste on my hand into mush from the sweat. Ach! What a pain!

But as you know, the henna powder, the recipe used, etc. all plays
into how dark a stain will get.
Good luck to you! Experiment, you will find something that works for
you.
Blessings,
Willowhawk
