Hey, thanks for the nice welcome. Yes... this board is clearly
populated with experts. It's been a blast looking at pics of
everyone's work. At the library the other day, I was browsing a book
on mehandi by a person named Sumita Batra (sp?), whose salon was
apparently popularized by Madonna, Gwen Stafani, and so on. And
really, I've got to say that many of the folks from this forum have
pics on their websites that show far better work than the photos
Batra has in her book. No exaggeration.

Anne, I'm right next door to San Mateo in Belmont. Small world. I
grew up in LA but after college I moved up here to take advantage of
the job market... that was in late '98. I keep saying that we've got
to get out of here... housing prices, traffic and other woes are just
not going to get any better... but we're still here. :) So what got
you out of the Bay Area?

And to Alissa, thank you for the encouragement, I'd love to share my
work, but it's still *really* basic... I'm not sure that I have
anything worth sharing yet. I've done maybe 10 or 12 designs total
since I started working with henna last month. In fact, if it wasn't
for Maureen's patient help, I'd probably still be scratching my head
wondering why my stains were barely visible to the naked eye (stale
henna was the problem). But, well, this is as good a time as any to
see if this URL thingy works with my web provider. The link below (if
it works) is to a quick design that I did on my sole yesterday. I
wanted to see if designs on the sole got as dark as everyone said
they did. This design was done with marimba henna powder from
everydayhenna.com that I mixed and terped. This pic was taken about 3
hours after the paste was removed, and the paste was on for less than
90 minutes because I grew tired of hopping around my apartment.
(Don't laugh!)
