Re: o/t SF Bay Area

Actually, i worked for SSC while in school! And a friend of mine has
often been in their plays.
The highway 17 commute just plain SUCKS. I actually ended up quitting
a job "over the hill" and becoming a bike messenger, and eventually
selling my car, due to that commute.
there are many good things about living in SC, but bad things too. If
you do end up moving there, check out The Alarm newspaper; it's just
starting up and is run by friends of mine.
NY is crazy. I see why people end up staying, but I can see why
people get out, too. But the sheer number of random, cool, cultural
things going on here is amazing. Now LA...I couldn't deal with LA,
cause of the car thing. I think the smog here is a little less bad,
and it rains more (it's raining now).
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with henna. I don't know if there
are any artists around there so you may have a good market for when
you go "pro!"
I get to spend a week in CA and hopefully some time in Santa Cruz,
then back here for henna, finishing a crazy paper, and getting a JOB.
happy dark stains - for the bottom of the foot, try doing it in bed,
then wrapping with tp and a sock once it's dry...i know I hate hopping
: I saw in another message that you went to UC Santa Cruz. My
: girlfriend and I *love* Santa Cruz. Just a fantastic town. In
: summertime, we often spend a bit of time on the campus for the
: Shakespeare Santa Cruz festival. In fact, my girlfriend is
: interviewing for a job in SC later this week. But it's tough, because
: for us to work there, we'd probably have to live there. (The commute
: into Silicon Valley, as you surely know, is just a bear on the
: twisty, turning highway 17). Nice problem to have, I guess?
: You've got my respect for living in NYC. Growing up in Los Angeles
: proper, I figured that I'd seen it all. "Big city? Ha, LA is so big
: it bends past the horizon!" But when I visited NY a few years back, I
: was pretty surprised at how monstrous NY was. And I use that
: adjective in both a positive and negative way, as there was a LOT to
: like about NY. I had a great visit, I loved the city... but I don't
: think I'd want to live there. Not without income to match (which
: sounds shallow, I s'pose). And as a student... well, that's why I
: said you've got my respect.
: Have a great time visiting your family! How long do you get to stay?
: Just a weekend?
: : Paul,
: : Actually I got out of San Mateo as soon as I could for the woods of
: : Santa Cruz, but lived in Seattle for almost five years before moving
: : to NYC last August. I moved here for grad school; still not sure
: : I can handle it, and I miss the Bay Area. Actually I'm visiting
: : on Friday for my brother's graduation from Berkeley.
: : Good work, keep at it, and "see" you around.
