Gotta get this info to you right away, because it's a godsend for
summer festivals and emergency appointments!

Experiment:
what effect does freezing have on terped henna over a period of 2
months?

Each Tuesday:
mix 25 g. Jamila henna with lemon juice
next day: terp with 25 drops Tea Tree EO
Immediately after terping, put paste in carrot bag, wrap carrot bag
in aluminum foil and put it in the freezer
(I dated each bag)

Repeat each Tuesday for 7 weeks.

Last frozen paste was started Tuesday before Sirius Henna Conference,
was terped Wednesday, then put in freezer.

Thursday morning before conference:
mix one last batch of Jamila with lemon juice.
Mixed in Tea Tree Friday morning.
DID NOT FREEZE.

Thursday morning, all frozen carrot bags of henna were put in a cold
case with "blue ice" packet to keep frozen on flight to SSW. Friday
morning the carrot bags had *just* thawed but were very cold.

Saturday morning we tested.

A midline was drawn up each arm from inner wrist to elbow bend.
"fern leaves" were drawn on the thumb side of the line with each
subsequent leaf in order from oldest frozen paste to newest frozen
paste. Each leaf was of paste that had been frozen one week more
recently than the previous. The oldest paste was at the elbow, and
the newest paste was at the wrist.

On the "pinky side" of the line, "fern leaves" were drawn, newest
paste at the elbow and oldest paste at the wrist.

Reversing the order of the pastes accomodated different staining
between wrist and elbow.

A large dot of the paste which was mixed fresh and never frozen was
added at the elbow end of the line and the wrist end of the line.

No special care whatsoever was taken.

The temperature was in the high 70's with very low humidity. Most
paste cracked and fell off in an hour or two.

Next morning .............

ALL THE PASTES, FROM ALL THE WEEKS, STAINED EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR!
FRESH AND FROZEN WERE IDENTICAL! 7 WEEK OLD FROZEN PASTE STAINS WERE
IDENTICAL TO 5,4,3,2,1, and NEVER FROZEN!

We were bouncing higher than the coyotoes!
Every person had exactly the same result: ALL paste gave equal stain!

THIS MEANS:
you can mix a large batch of paste weeks ahead ... just stash it in
the freezer in small bags immediatly after terping.

you can pull one bag out for testing to make sure you have a good
batch! Never again go to a show worried that you have a bad batch!

You can pull out one bag of henna whenever you need it and just let
it come up to room temp 24 hours ... and you know it's as good as
fresh made!

Now ... you can have a home-made terped paste ready to go in your
freezer for emergencies, or you can mix up once and have henna ready
to go for 2 months of festivals! No mix and waste! Just unfreeze
enough for the next day. No wondering if you have a good batch when
you go out the door!

THANK YOU COYOTES! Thank you, Alissa for organizing Sirius Southwest
Henna Conference (big round of applause)! Thank you everyone who
came to the Conference! It was FANTASTIC!
